How to take a CIPP site sample

Samples taken on the building site and tested in the lab reflect the quality of the CIPP. However, if the sampling process is flawed that may have serious implications for the assessment of the rehabilitation project. Samples should be taken by qualified independent experts or be monitored by the orderer of the project.

How a sample should look like:


Length: For diameters > DN 200: minimum   350 mm (14 inch)

For wall thickness over 20 mm (0,8 inch): The length of the sample must correlate with twenty times the amount of the wall thickness. The distance between the support edges must correlate with ten times the amount of the thickness.


Package:  Still in the shaft, UV-coured samples must be covered immediately with a lightproof foil or a UV absorbing foil.


Marking: Please assign the sample to the project and mark it clearly with a label or a waterproof pen. Fill in the sample cover doucment.


Shape: > DN 200 semi-circular, ≤ DN 200 circular or for EP-systems als core bore (DSC analysis), diameter minimum 3 cm (1,2 inch)
